The Money Spent Can Be Used Better Elsewhere

We believe that most people who regularly consume bottled water have adjusted their lifestyle in a way that accommodates the added expense. We're think that the same folks who are accustomed to spending on average $100 a year/per person, should be able to re-allocate that expense to charitable giving once they decide to "skip the bottle". One may donate to TheWaterProject.org or to any other charity working to reduce poverty and bring access to clean water to those in need.

We recognize that bottle water can be a "necessary" convenience. There are plenty of occasions in which the packaging is necessary (disaster relief, etc). While be believe re-usable water containers are a more responsible choice in most cases, we do realize that is not always feasible. Common sense and responsible use of bottle water is not to be dismissed entirely. We would encourage those who use bottle water in this manner to consider "offsetting" the ethical cost of this water by making an additional donation to a charity of their choice.

We all have choices to make in how we spend the money we have or earn. Quite simply, we are privileged. We earn more than most everyone in the world. We have the ability to decide how we spend a good portion of our income. When we choose to live "simpler" lives we are able to give more freely to those in need. The choice to give money to someone you will never meet in a place you will never visit and in a manner that may never benefit you is a personal one. We believe giving access to water is a better use of our money than consuming bottled water. We sincerely hope you will too.
