Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.
Fundraiser

We are raising money for this because water is the most essential necessity to live, and although it's all around us, there are still millions of people, even children who don't have access to clean water.

Three years ago I attended an author event at Powell's bookstore in Portland, and there was something heavy I was left with. The author of Wine to Water, Doc Hendley, who started his own nonprofit to build wells was speaking. He expressed true compassion for the number of people living below the poverty line in one of the richest countries in the world, The United States. He then went on to say, "But even in the United States, when we are down and out, most of us are still able to at least run into a McDonald's somewhere, turn on the faucet, and get a drink of water." I realized then how much I take that simple truth for granted.

In 2011, I started Curtis Solutions Company, a real estate development company based here in Portland. One of reasons I started it and wanted it to be successful was to be able to provide resources to people who need it most...enough resources to really have an impact.

When we raise this $12,000, it will bring in enough money to build a well and service it for 5 years in a town where the people currently don't have access to clean water. More specifically, this project will include the construction of a rainwater harvesting system, eco-toilet and hand washing stations for a school outside of Kakamega, Western Kenya. We have committed to match up to $6,000 in donations received. Please come to our event anytime from 4:30-8:00 PM on Friday, May 22nd at 1625 NW Johnson St, Portland, OR 97209. There you will preview our latest and best house restoration just before we list it for sale, and help provide water to those who don't have it. Beverages and h'orderves to be provided.

Thank you for your support,

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
