After visiting Southern Kenya two years ago on an immersion trip with a group of my peers from Brophy College Preparatory, I saw the hardships that people there have to go through daily to get things I take for granted. These included education, food, supplies, money, and above all else, water. We followed Jane, a women in our village, on her daily water trip to a stream with 10 assorted 3 and 7 gallon barrels strapped to our backs. The trip already seemed very difficult considering that 20+ high school boys struggled bring the barrels all the way back to Jane's house, a chore she preformed every day. After we had painstakingly brought the water back, Jane told us about how in times of drought, the stream shrivels up to the width of a shoe. During these times, Jane has to wake up at 2-4 A.M. to get enough water for her family that day. Seeing this ever going struggle for water forced me to realize that something needs to be done. With the current drought in Kenya, the water situation has taken a turn for the worse and millions in Kenya alone barely get by each day with enough water. Donations can help solve this problem, through The WaterProject.org, donations are sent directly into a pool for building water wells in Kenya where needed which will help support these Kenyans in need. Please donate, any amount is helpful
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
