Most of you know that, while I have great intentions to exercise regularly, the reality is I DO NOT exercise regularly!! I have been a paying member of a gym for the past year, and have gone maybe 10 times. So the idea is pretty simple. My goal is to workout for 100 consecutive days and you, friends and family, can make a pledge toward that effort and ultimately provide a lifetime of clean drinking water for the less fortunate. Your pledge can be a one-time amount or an amount for each day that I succeed. For example, if you pledge $1.00 per day and I exercise for 100 days, your pledge at the end of the 100 days would be $100. Alternatively, you can make a one-time pledge of any amount (i.e., $20, $50, $100, $500). Get the idea?

Why would I do this? Why should you do this? The answer is simple; I believe lives can be changed with clean drinking water!! Being a parent, I want my children to live in a healthy environment. I believe that desire is universal! Imagine young girls attending school instead of trekking miles to fetch dirty, diseased water from a pit. Imagine the healthy mothers who could start small businesses and provide for their families. What if men were no longer too sick to work? What if the fields were watered and the food supply became more reliable. Access to clean drinking water will restore health and children can grow up to be productive members of their community. The cycle of poverty is broken. Yes, lives are changed!! Together we can everything!

I hope my dream is contagious and you will help me provide an entire well in Sudan, Sierra Leone or Kenya. The costs vary, but on average, the cost of a well is $5,000-$6,000. This includes 1) preparing the community for a water project, 2) the actual construction of the well and 3) the long-term monitoring needed to make sure our investment lasts a very long time.
