Dirty water and a lack of basic sanitation are undermining
efforts to end extreme poverty and disease in the world's poorest countries.
4,100 children die every day from severe diarrhoea, which is caused by poor
sanitation and hygiene. Women and girls in developing countries spend most of
their days gathering water for their families, walking 3.5 miles on average
each day to collect water. Girls often drop out of primary school because their
schools lack separate toilets and easy access to safe water.
Access to clean drinking water in Ghana could transform the
lives of millions in rural areas of Ghana. It could prevent thousands of child
deaths and free up hours each day for women and children to go to work or
school. This is especially true for girls -- studies show that girls are 12%
more likely to go to school if water is available within a 15 minute walk
rather than a one hour's walk............For this I have started a will project
in Ghana and would be grateful to have great people with like mind to join me
make this a reality and put smiles on faces of people who need water to
survive, since water is a basic need by building wells in rural areas in Ghana
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
