I am a teaching artist in schools working in the South San Francisco Bay Area. This year in my work with the Cultural Kaleidoscope program, we have chosen to make water the focus of our cross-curricular, inter-cultural learning.
Kindergarten and first grade students will be inspired by water's essence of flow, change, and abundance as emphasis for our 21st Century creative investigations. Final 3D collaborative art pieces, created by student buddies from different school districts, will be auctioned off along with the option of taking the drink water only pledge to raise funds for this water project. This fundraiser provides the motivation needed to experience the power of the arts to change the world! For water is the essential element all living things on earth require to live and thrive - similar to provisions for creative expression in schools! Please join us in this ambitious challenge to make an actual impact for our kids both locally and globally by pledging and bidding on original art works made in collaboration by children studying art under the guidance of a practicing artist in public schools! Look for the completed masterpieces that will be up for bidding in April of 2013. Water is fundamental for life and health. The human right to water is indispensable for leading a healthy life in human dignity. It is a pre-requisite to the realization of all other human rights. - The United Nations Committee on Economic, Cultural and Social Rights, Nov. 27, 2002Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
