On a personal level I am very passionate when it comes to conserving our fresh water and always being thankful that I have access to an abundance of fresh water every day. I travelled to Kenya this past summer and learned some very valuable lessons when it comes to water. I also learned how much the average Canadian person uses everyday, over 340 litres. I feel like this is an unrealistic amount of water to use when people in our world can get by on 10 litres or less a day. Some steps that I have taken to minimize my water usage are staggered showers, turning off the tap when brushing my teeth and lathering my hands. It is quite simple and everyone can do it! I encourage you to do the same!
Also, as one of the group leads of Medway High school's Youth For Social Justice club I believe that this project is a great kick-off for our group in what will hopefully turn out to be a fun and successful year.

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
