Everyday millions of people suffer from water related
disease. Why water you ask? Nearly 1 billion people don’t have water safe to
drink. Diarrheal disease causes multiple preventable illnesses, such as
dehydration and malnutrition. Looking further these diseases affect mostly
children. Mothers who are burdened with disease themselves often rely of their
children to collect water, which is usually miles away and is carried by hand
in what we know as gas cans holding five gallons or more. Children who suffer
these burdens miss school, and often do not survive what we know as elementary
school. 1 in 5 children who die before age 5 worldwide, die from water related
disease. We can help!
With a small donation we can bring hope to people who have
none and to people who suffer needlessly from completely preventable diseases.
With your help we can make education a reality for millions of children who
miss school because of diarrheal related disease. A child dies every 15 seconds
from unclean water. We can help!
The Water Project works by:
·
Targeting local communities
·
Assessing their needs
·
Educating the people about how important clean
water is
·
Actually digging the well
·
Follow-up education and handing over the water
responsibility to the people
·
Finally measuring sustainability with follow-up
evaluations, and making sure the people are still benefiting from the safe
water.
A well can usually serve 500 people. While
that number seems rather small compared to the millions without clean water,
with a well dug, 500 more people can now live a more promising, productive,
full life. We can help!
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
