About To fund a well for a school - Our first goal! The Water Way of Life Description Funding the building and maintaining of wells for impoverished African and Indian school communities General information One sixth of the world’s population is living without access to clean and safe drinking water. In impoverished communities all over the world, people have no choice but to drink the tainted water. As a result of drinking the water, these people contract illnesses that in some cases are fatal. Of the top five regions affected most by the water crisis, three-fifths of these regions are African countries. Those being Sudan with 12.3 million affected, Zimbabwe with 2.7 million affected and Tunisia with 2.1 million affected. And in Africa as a whole, approximately 4,900 children are dying each day because of the lack of clean and safe drinking water and waterborne illnesses are the second leading cause of death for children around the world. Mission Drops for Knowledge is a unique organization because it raises funds for the building of wells for school communities, not just villages in general. Illness contracted from unsafe drinking water is the second largest killer among children globally and children spend the majority of their day at school, so as opposed to having wells built for the whole community, these wells will be built specifically for the schools. It is best to provide these children, who are the future of Africa, with safe and clean drinking water and a healthy beginning.
Drops for Knowledge (DFK) is an organization aimed to raise awareness about the growing water crisis in Africa and raise funds to build and maintain wells in African school communities. DFK believes that everyone should have equal access to clean water and that the price of funding a well is not a large one to pay for saving lives.
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
