Recently, while channel surfing I came across a young woman holding a pretty baby girl. I usually don't pay much attention to these commercials but this woman looked so sad, while the little girl looked content. I wondered how could the mom look so desperately sad when she had such a beautiful child. I continued to watch and found out that the little girl was the women's second child. Her first child died from a disease obtained from drinking contaminated water. The camera pans to a pool of dirty, murky water. The best way to describe it would be a puddle of muddy water you would jump over because you don't want to get your shoes dirty.
Now imagine walking for miles to get this muddy water because it is the only water available for you to drink. Push yourself a little further and imagine watching your children die because you have no other option, they have to have water.
I stopped to think about how may times I've had a bottle of water, took a few sips and walked away. Never thinking about it again. But I couldn't forget about this women and her children dying from drinking contaminated water. So I decided to do something to help. Now I am asking you to help as well. Please join us in our water challenge and help fund a fresh water well in an area where there is no access to safe water
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
