Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.

Last year I traveled to Kenya for safari. My adventure was amazing and unforgettable. Kenya has so much beauty to appreciate with its breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. Traveling to Africa was a lifelong dream of mine and my journey to Kenya was better than anything I could have ever imagined. Incredible as the animals were, it was the people of Kenya who captivated me the most. I fell in love with their beautiful culture and joyful spirits. Because the men, women, and children of Kenya were such an inspiration to me, I want to give back to Kenyans and help improve there lives.

Access to safe water throughout Kenya is only 59% and access to improved sanitation is only 32%. Kenya suffers from erratic weather patterns which causes droughts and water shortages. The country has a limited renewable water supply and is classified as a water scarce country. Kenya's water shortage forces many women and children to spend roughly one-third of their day fetching water instead of tending to their families or going to school. Water-borne diseases are a major health problem in Kenya due to the lack of clean water and sanitation. Diarrhea is second to pneumonia in deaths in children under five years of age. Due to the lack of access to clean water, and poor sanitation, hygiene related illnesses are the number one cause of hospitalization in children under age five. (source: UNICEF Joint Monitoring Programme’s 2012 report)

Please help me reach my goal of $3,000 by donating to my fundraiser page. Any amount helps!!!! Asante (thank you!), Amanda

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
