For the last few months, severe droughts have persisted throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. The drought has worsened an already existing clean water shortage, which has forced many children to drop out of school and walk to get water for their families. The Water Project’s goal is to help communities long term in Africa by making water infrastructure, treatment, and sanitation available for them, thus eliminating the need to walk long distances for water and allowing more children to remain in school. The Water Project also employs local individuals in the community to maintain the equipment, thus creating jobs.
