Yarleena is 7 years old and lives in Orange County, California with her parents. Inspired by her story, The Water Project<\/a> asked if she would answer some questions about her successful fundraising campaign<\/a>. Yarleena raised more than $500 which helped\u00a0a community in Uganda<\/a>.<\/p>\n

TWP: So, Yarleena, what made you choose water<\/a> as your cause?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

After watching a documentary by Ahmad Alshugairi this past Ramadan. I asked my mother if I could help people in need of water.<\/p>\n

As California residents, we conserve our use of water as we are in a drought.<\/p>\n

TWP:\u00a0<\/strong>What made you choose The Water Project<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because I liked the past projects<\/a> and I saw how the kids had a better life when water is close.<\/p>\n

TWP:\u00a0<\/strong>Is this your first fundraising campaign<\/a> for The Water Project<\/a>?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes!<\/p>\n

TWP:\u00a0<\/strong>That’s awesome! Thank you! So, what did you do to fundraise?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I talked to family and friends; I explained how nice it would be to give when you can. My mom and dad helped a lot too!<\/p>\n

TWP:\u00a0<\/strong>Do you have any crazy stories?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I talked to everyone about the fundraiser<\/a> including the principle of my school! He was very encouraging and suggested I would get involved and present issues I cared about so everyone can help!<\/p>\n

TWP:\u00a0<\/strong>How did you get people involved?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I presented facts<\/a> that I found on the water project website<\/a>. We raised funds from 4 different\u00a0countries: USA, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and China.<\/p>\n

TWP:\u00a0<\/strong>That’s amazing! So, how do you inspire people to take action for clean water?<\/strong><\/p>\n

By being a good example!<\/p>\n
