We believe the gift of water is a promise. It is a commitment to provide reliable access to water over time.

Helping you understand the true cost to make The Water Promise is an important part of our work. To explain your potential impact, here is a rough calculation of the cost of an actual water project.

• A typical water point will cost roughly $12,000 for initial construction and maintenance. Some will be more expensive, some less. (See why)
• We've included one year of monitoring and maintenance costs. We have other donors who will help fund the following years. (Become a member to be a part of that)
• We've included in-country and domestic costs to properly manage and evaluate the water project over time.
• Each water point serves an average of 350 people. (Claims that a well can serve more are often exaggerations.)
• $12,000 / 350 = $34.25 per person
