Everyday we take advantage of the rights and privileges we have in Canada.
Many people in underdeveloped countries have basic needs that aren't met. The need for water for example.
While we take 10-30 minute showers and leave the water running in the bath or in the sink, people in less fortunate countries don't even have enough clean water to fill a glass to drink.
More then 65% of disease and Illness in Kenya is caused by unsafe drinking water.
Last year in Kenya, 10% of all deaths were attributed to water related
illness and 30% of these were children under the age of 5 years old.
Over 80% of these deaths were children under the age of 14!
It takes one person to change this.
I want to change this, and I need your help.
I can't do this without you guys.
I am taking a trip to Kenya in July 2012.
I would like to raise enough money to at least purchase one water well and have it installed in a village in Kenya. The approximate price for this is $6,500. If we raise more then that, that's great! The more money raised the more clean water is provided, meaning the more lives we save.
I was planning on doing this by possibly making cakes and selling them to anyone interested.
We'll call it project Refresh.
Your help is needed, anyway you can.
Thank you for taking the time to read this < 3
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
