Thirty-nine-year-old head teacher Margaret Sesay recalled what life was like at the Kalangba Junction SLMB Primary School before her school's well was rehabilitated last year.
"Before this time, I used to struggle to fetch water, and we normally [went] out of the school premises to fetch water. This was difficult because there was no water well in the school premises," shared Margaret.
Collecting water is now easier for Margaret and the other teachers and students at the school.
"Since the completion of this well, fetching water has become easy. As the headmistress of the school, I fetched water for all classes so the pupils would not go out of the class to fetch water. This has impacted their lives by providing sufficient, safe, and pure drinking water," she continued.
Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference, allowing her to fulfill her primary responsibility of helping students learn.
"I have been able to achieve a huge goal since the completion of this project. I have full control of the pupils because they no longer leave class to go and search for water. Even as a teacher, I'm now able to save money because I no longer buy water for drinking purposes," she concluded.
