Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., has a rich history of fighting poverty, oppression, and working to alleviate suffering all over the globe. With its approximately 200,000 college-educated women dedicated to public service, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's Harford County Alumnae Chapter is doing its part to make an impact on the international community. This year’s international initiative ‘Walk on Water’ is a water project contributing to the benefit of millions of men, women and children who do not have access to the most essential element on God’s earth, water.

Nearly 1 billion people suffer needlessly without access to safe water. Nearly 80% of illness in developing countries is linked to poor water and sanitation conditions. Help us change lives…walk with us.

This year, donate to the millions who do are plagued with disease due to the lack of clean, safe water. Join the Deltas of Harford County in doing our part to change and save lives one donation at a time. A donation of as little as $20 can change the course of one person’s life, every little bit counts.

June 22nd we will hold our second Walk on Water 5K Run/Walk at Tydings Park in Havre de Grace, Md., to raise funds to deliver clean water to Africa. Know that we are a community of educated women who are motivated by compassion and a thirst for justice and will continue to do the work that addresses the unfortunate daily existences that plague third-world nations, primarily counted within the African Diaspora. We seek to expand the dialogue and inspire changes in social, economic and health conditions throughout the world.

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
