Ngiini Water Project - Update January 2008

Ngiini water project weir under construction

We're excited to have received the following report from the field...

"The weir construction work at Ngiini began on 4th October 2007. All the required materials have been delivered on site.

The community has been meeting twice per week to work on the weir which now stands at 5 ft and will continue upto 15ft. The short rain season which is commencing will be an advantage to the community.

The height of the weir at the moment will be able to hold considerable water and enable them complete the weir without water problem.

The strategic placement of the weir has a good catchment from several ridges on the Ulelani River."

You can see in the picture, in the far upper-left corner, that water is already collecting behind this sand dam!
