Churches Helping Churches - How to Give Clean Water

Africa Brotherhood Church - MachakosThe hope of sub-Saharan Africa is the Church.

The Church in Africa is ready to make an eternal impact in their own communities. But there's a huge obstacle in their way...a lack of clean water.

You can help bring clean water to African churches and help them restore true hope.

We're committed to supporting local churches whenever possible, so they can play their full role in the Body of Christ.

Why it matters.

We believe churches are the single greatest means to change lives forever. Through local congregations, relief, development assistance, and a lasting hope is given to those in need from within the community itself.

When obstacles like a lack of clean water prevent that from happening, we think it's our responsibility to act.

When the apostle Paul was reaching out on behalf of the church in Jerusalem, taking a collection for the poor suffering from a drought, he did it so that the church could continue to be everything God intended it to be.

By partnering in the work of Church worldwide - by helping provide clean water - you are investing in the Kingdom in the same way.

Why it works.

Local congregations in Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda are already caring for their communities. We want to help them do more, by providing clean, safe water.

Churches are a natural fit for a new public water source. Their doors are always open...to everyone. They are already mobilizing communities. After all, who knows a community better?

Local congregations have a unique ability to manage water projects in the long term too. With local leadership in place, organizing and overseeing a new well or water system is much more likely to succeed.

The church sees a better future ahead and are acting today to restore the Kingdom. You can help.

The Water Project is ready to help make your partnership a success.

We work with our implementers to find water projects organized through churches and missions organizations whenever we can. Some run schools, medical clinics and community development programs too. We know the value of these holistic partnerships.

We've made it easy to get started.

  1. The Water Challenge - is a ready-to-go fundraiser that can be started with little effort and takes only two weeks. We provide everything you need for free. It's the simplest way to begin.

  2. We've got a great media kit with logos, posters, handouts, and photos for creating your own materials with your church's info, etc.

  3. You can setup a Fundraising Page for your church too, making it easy to collect donations and track your progress as a group.

  4. When your done, you'll see the results... About 8 months later, you'll receive a full report of the water project you made possible, including pictures and GPS coordinates that will allow your congregation to see where and how they helped.

Keswick Baptist Church Changes Lives

Is there anything better then giving in His name? In our eyes, NO WAY!!

We first heard about The Water Project at an event we took our youth group to called SpringForth. We were all so amazed that so many children were dying because they didn't have clean water, and also amazed how such a little amount of money can mean the difference between life and death. I am confident in saying that it was life changing knowledge and I knew that we could make a difference! And boy, what a difference.

The youth group and I told our church about the project and had a month to raise the money for one well. Some in the church actually took the challenge of drinking just water for two weeks. Many, myself included, couldn't go the whole two weeks. Water is something that we take for granted.

Not only did the people get involved, we had Daily Vacation Bible School for a week. We told the kids that we were going to give water, and save kids that were the same ages as them. And did God ever work through that! Over $700.00 was raised with an average of 50 kids coming each night. I still am shaking my head in awe.

We didn't advertise or give anything to their parents to tell them this is what the offering was going towards, the kids went home, and told their parents. Again, how awesome is He!

I would encourage all to give in His name! And in doing this, you will save lives not only here on earth, but grow the Kingdom of God, and that's what it's all about!

“We feel so proud of [our daughter] and all the children that participated in making clean water a reality for those who don’t have it. This was a great lesson for us all, and inspired many of us to give of our resources to help those without.”
