The Hope of the World
The hope of sub-Saharan Africa, just like the rest of the world, is the Church.
Bill Hybels is known for saying that the hope of the world is the local church. We agree. And that means we must strengthen and empower local churches so they can play their full role in the Body of Christ.
The Church is God's means to change the world...not my church, not your church...the Church.
We have found church after church in Africa, prepared to make an eternal impact in their own communities. But there's a huge obstacle in their way...a lack of clean water.
You can help bring clean water to African churches and help them restore true hope.
These local congregations are ready to care for their communities. Their doors are always open...to everyone. They are mobilizing communities. They see a better future ahead and are acting to restore the Kingdom. You can help.
How your Church can become a partner
We look for water projects that, whenever possible, are organized through churches and missions that run schools, medical clinics and community development programs. We have seen the value in these holistic partnerships proven time and time again.
We believe churches, like the Africa Brotherhood Church, are the single greatest means to change lives forever. Isn't that how it should be? Relief and aid are coming from within the community itself. When obstacles like a lack of clean water prevent that from happening, we think it's our responsibility to act.
When the apostle Paul was reaching out on behalf of the church in Jerusalem, taking a collection for the poor suffering from a drought, he surely did it so that the church there could continue to be everything God intended it to be.
By partnering in the work of Church worldwide - by helping provide clean water - you are investing in the Kingdom.
The Water Project is ready to help make your partnership a success.
- We've made it easy to get started with "The Water Challenge" - a ready-to-go fundraiser that can be started with little effort and takes only two weeks. (It even works great in a down economy…because no one is asked to donate extra money…but rather to trade an expense for a life-changing gift.)
- We've got a large collection of photos on Flickr for creating your own customized flyers and posters with your church's logo, etc.
- We will use 100% of the money raised for actual water project construction costs.
- Projects as small as $500 will receive a report of the well they have repaired or built, including pictures, and often GPS coordinates that will allow your congregation to see where the project you funded is on Google Earth, etc.

Keswick Baptist Church Changes Lives
Is there anything better then giving in His name? In our eyes, NO WAY!!
We first heard about The Water Project at an event we took our youth group to called SpringForth. We were all so amazed that so many children were dying because they didn't have clean water, and also amazed how such a little amount of money can mean the difference between life and death. I am confident in saying that it was life changing knowledge and I knew that we could make a difference! And boy, what a difference.
The youth group and I told our church about the project and had a month to raise the money for one well. Some in the church actually took the challenge of drinking just water for two weeks. Many, myself included, couldn't go the whole two weeks. Water is something that we take for granted.
Not only did the people get involved, we had Daily Vacation Bible School for a week. We told the kids that we were going to give water, and save kids that were the same ages as them. And did God ever work through that! Over $700.00 was raised with an average of 50 kids coming each night. I still am shaking my head in awe.
We didn't advertise or give anything to their parents to tell them this is what the offering was going towards, the kids went home, and told their parents. Again, how awesome is He!
I would encourage all to give in His name! And in doing this, you will save lives not only here on earth, but grow the Kingdom of God, and that's what it's all about!
