Did you know over 2 billion people don't have adequate access to sanitation? Or that over 1 billion don't have adequate access to clean drinking water? Or that there is a drought currently in Somalia that has caused 110 deaths in just 2 days? Often we take things like access to cheap, clean water for granted. I know I have. No need to fret though, there is something you can do right here at home and since it is April ("April showers bring May flowers") the weather flight has decided to partake in a water challenge and would like to invite anyone else who wants to participate as well.
So what is the water challenge? For 2 weeks you elect to drink nothing but water, I know that’s tough for us coffee addicts. During this time, you keep track of how much you would have spent on drinks besides water. At the end of the two weeks, you donate the proceeds to help build a well in areas that don't have clean drinking water. Just $23 provides clean water to 1 person for life! So what if you can't break the caffeine habit? No worries, you can keep your coffee addiction and still make an impact by donating as well.
So how do you participate? Just stop by the weather flight, building 1758, room 105 (base ops) and grab yourself a super cool water challenge wristband, a drink tracking sheet and after your 2 weeks is up, go to the link below and donate what you saved. At the end of April you'll be able to see exactly where your donation went and how many people received clean drinking water as a result.
I hope you'll consider joining our squadron to fund a water project. With your gifts and your help rallying support, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water to a community in Africa.

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
