We are fundraising to bring awareness to our school about world water issues.. We want our students in Eastern, NC to understand how lucky we truly are. We will be walking on 3/22/2013, World Water Day, one mile carrying 1 gallon of water to represent just some of the struggle others are going through in other parts of the world... what is keeping girls and women from working and going to school; just a glimpse, into what someone has to do to get water that we so easily go to a spicket for.
We are hoping that our students, along with staff, family and friends will help with our cause. There are many ways we are brainstorming how to collect money for our event/efforts. There is a two week challenge of no water, soda, sport drinks, etc., that you would normally purchase in the day to day without thinking twice; you take that money and turn it into a donation! How easy is that? Our students are brainstorming chores they can do around the house, and small changes they can make in the weeks leading up to our walk.

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
