In the world currently there are 358 million people living without any reliable source of water,750 million people live without access to clean water, and more than 840,000 people die every year from water related diseases. 1 out of five deaths under the age of 5 are water related. The water crisis is the #1 global risk on a measure of devastation. The Water Project supplies water wells to a place in need, mainly in impoverished places in Africa. Claire, for her 14th birthday has asked us to set up a fundraiser page in her name. Every year we will donate money towards the $12,000-$15,000 needed to build and maintain a well through The Water Project. One well can supply water for hundreds of people. Water is not only necessary for survival but is also a huge part of childhood development. Over 443 million school days are lost each and every year due to water related diseases. 64% of homes rely on teenage girls to go and collect water multiple times a day, often the water jugs can reach 40 pounds in weight. Due to this, many girls drop out of school in order to provide for there families. By investing in clean water, young children around the world can gain more than 413 million days of health! Claire would like to thank everyone in advance that supports her in her efforts to make a change in the world. Our goal is to raise enough money by her 18th birthday (March 30th 2019) to build one well in Africa. Join us in the cause! God Bless. The Hatchers.
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
