In underserved and disaster-prone regions, conventional disinfection methods such as chlorination are costly, chemically intensive, and environmentally unsustainable. Current solutions, such as reverse osmosis and chemical decontamination systems like the Cloud Water Filter, are costly, difficult to obtain in regions of poverty, and do not combine desalination and disinfection in a single unit.

So, we developed DAWID (Desalination Apparatus and Waterborne Illness Drainer), which is a bipartite system that not only sanitizes water but also removes any salt and excess residue.
