Help Fund a Water Project
Hi, my name is Omer Shehab and I was hoping you can help me to fund a water project. With your donation and your support, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water to many communities in Africa.
Without easy, safe and close access to water, many villagers are forced to spend hours EVERYDAY finding and transporting water (about 3 hours a day).
Why water is relevant in ending poverty:
Without water you can't grow food, you can't stay healthy, you can't stay in school and you can't keep working. This is relevant to poverty because if you cannot grow food, you cannot trade. If you cannot stay healthy you will not be able to work. if you are not able to work you cannot receive income and you will not be able to provide for you or your family. Also missing out on education has a very high chance of putting you into poverty in the future. Also, if you are wasting 3 hours of your day, collecting water and bringing it back to your community, where are you going to get the time to work? "The United Nations estimates that Sub-Saharan Africa alone loses 40 billion hours per year collecting water." That is insane. Instead of spending so much time collecting water, you can be working and providing food for yourself and your family. Having access to close and clean water is very important in ending poverty.
Without water, it is VERY DIFFICULT to get out of the cycle of poverty.
How this campaign can help:
This campaign, with enough money, will put a water well into a community which allows sustainable agriculture. Children can go to school instead of wasting their time collecting dirty water and can instead get an education that will forever help them. Men and women have more time to care and provide for their families, sustain their farms, and they can run small businesses as well. Now that is valuable time used wisely and it is the first step in getting out of poverty.
