Hello Hickman Families,
In our middle school writing class, we are learning about children and families around the world who do not have access to clean and safe water. They are reading the book A Long Walk to Water and exploring the vital role that water plays in all of our lives. Students' writing assignments are based on the theme: Water is Life. I felt that it was important for students to be part of the solution, rather than just becoming aware of the problem. It seemed natural to launch into the H20 project to empower students and encourage them that we can all do something to make a difference. This is not a required "assignment" but rather an opportunity for everyone to participate in a solution to the current water crisis by contributing money towards a well. Students and any family members who would like to contribute can give-up drinking purchased drinks for 2 weeks and then put the unspent money towards a well. Of course, this is an anonymous and optional assignment. Please contact me if you have any questions.Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
