Farmer Rose Ateya, 48, shared what it was like to collect water from the spring in her community before its protection this past year. "Initially, we were fetching dirty water. The water was not good for our health. Also, we used unclean containers to draw water."
But now Rose has access to clean, safe water. She commented, "After the completion of the project, we are now fetching clean water. The water is reliable and safe for human consumption. It has reduced the prevalence of waterborne diseases among the community members."
She concluded, "We don't take a lot of time at the protected spring. It saves time for us. We now have sufficient time to engage in other economic activities to improve our livelihoods."
