Wycliffe's Students are Now Safe!

Last year, your gift unlocked the potential for a brighter future for Wycliffe. Since then, he and the St. Mary's Chepsaga Primary School of 286 students have had clean, reliable water. Your contribution has made a significant impact. Thank you for making a difference!

"Fetching here has saved us the time we used to lose. Access to the water is easy, as it does not force you to leave the school. It is also easy to monitor, something we have come to appreciate so much." -Wycliffe

Before the Well's Installation

Like many in Kenya, 44-year-old Wycliffe Analo is responsible for collecting water to meet daily water needs. Before last year’s water intervention, that task stole his time and negatively affected him.

Drinking the water caused severe consequences. Many in his school suffered from waterborne diseases that created health problems, affecting their daily lives. Limited accessibility also meant people wasted time collecting sufficient water to meet their needs. The difficult journey to collect water sapped their physical and emotional energy, creating roadblocks. For Wycliffe, in particular, it lessened his ability to give his students a rigorous education.

"Last year, we had a lot of time wasted going to get water from the stream. The water in itself was not clean which also raised complaints from both the teachers and students of stomach upsets. The area was also a little bushy and at some point the students encountered a bush snake which got them scared of that waterpoint," shared Wycliffe.

Since the Well's Installation

Your generous gift last year was much more than a simple donation; it was a powerful statement about your commitment to this school and Wycliffe’s future. By supporting the water solution, you made clean water an everyday reality, fostering hope for a brighter future.

Reliable and clean water lays the groundwork for improved health, education, and economic possibilities, allowing people to thrive. We frequently hear from those we interview that "water is life!"

"I think my health has improved mostly because I am not often worried [about] the water I consume. As far as science is concerned, it is good for our health and well-being. Having the waterpoint in school, I have noticed the learners consume the water directly from the pipe often when it gets hot in the day," Wycliffe said.

The Future is Looking Bright!

A year ago, you made a difference for Wycliffe and the rest of his school. This is just the first chapter of their story as access to clean water continues to improve their lives!

At The Water Project, we value sustainability and want to ensure that people continue to thrive. We commit to monitoring this project to ensure the water is always flowing and safe to consume. We inspect the system hardware, track water availability, conduct sanitary inspections, and collect water quality samples to identify risks. We work with our team on the ground to resolve them.

You gave Wycliffe a crucial tool for achieving his dreams: access to clean water. Together, we can excitedly expect that with this precious resource, his enthusiasm and courage will help fulfill dreams.

"We have had the county come in and help us raise some classes. The water used has been fetched directly from the borehole. We have planted a number of trees, which we water every other day with water from our borehole. We don't worry about safety now. With the waterpoint being in a monitoring distance, we are at ease," Wycliffe concluded.
