Around the world, clean water is worryingly scarce. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every country in Latin America, save Chile and Costa Rica, lacks the sanitation infrastructure to sustainably provide clean, drinkable tap water to the majority of its population. The same problem is prevalent in nearly every country in Africa (except RĂ©union), the Middle East (except Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain), and Asia (except South Korea, Japan, and Singapore). In fact, according to the CDC, of the 7.73 billion people on earth, only 1.218 billion people have access to safe tap water - less than the population of India alone (1.368 billion). Unclean tap water, whether used for sanitation or consumption, can contain waterborne diseases, like cholera, dysentery, guinea worm, and typhoid fever, and can lead to the spread of those diseases. The lack of clean water not only imperils individual health outcomes but also is a significant factor in global refuse production and pollution.
The majority of the world's population is suffering from a lack of clean water for both sanitation and drinking. You and I can change that. Please make a donation and then help me spread the word.
