According to unicefusa.org, worldwide, women spend a total of 200 million minutes on getting water everyday, which is more than 300 70-year lifetimes. During this time, these women could have been learning, micro financing, and bringing the family out of poverty. To make matter worse, the water that most of these women spend hours everyday retrieving is contaminated with deadly bacteria. This is why mortality rates at birth in some countries are so high, for example, according to indexmundi.com, the mortality rate in Ghana is almost 1 death per 4 births.
