Our community faces a critical lack of access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities. This leads to a high prevalence of waterborne diseases like cholera and dysentery, disproportionately affecting children and youth.
This project proposes a comprehensive initiative to implement sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) solutions in the rural settlements in Kuria West – sub count. Going beyond infrastructure, the project integrates the creation of accountable safe spaces and robust programs for social inclusion to combat violence and exploitation. By focusing on gender equality and the strategic empowerment of youth as change agents, the project aims to improve health outcomes, foster a protective environment, and build a more equitable and resilient community.
Children, especially girls, miss school due to lack of sanitary towels and lack of clean water or the burden of fetching water from long distant, contaminated sources. Poor sanitation facilities in schools and public areas also pose safety risks for the general population specially youth and women.
