When's the last time you took a drink of water? How about the last time you took a shower? Flushed your toilet? Washed a dish? Brushed your teeth? Washed your clothes? Left the faucet running? Imagine a world where you couldn't do any of these things easily. Communities in Western Kenya don't have immediate access to clean water so these basic daily rituals are nonexistent. In Kenya, more than 10,000 innocent children die every year due to preventable diseases caused by unsafe, unsanitary water conditions. That's 2014's entire Portland Public School high school student body! In Kenya, 17 M people don't have any access to clean, safe water. You, as a member of the Grant community, have an amazing opportunity to change that for one Kenyan community and make a real difference in many lives.
As a school, we plan to raise $12,000 to build a sustainable water system for an entire deserving community in Western Kenya. This includes a new well, a rain water harvesting system, an eco-toilet and hand washing stations. 100% of the money raised will go directly to building a sustainable water project. All proceeds are tax deductible as The Water Project is a 501(c)(3).
Throughout the course of the year, we're planning a variety of fundraisers to encourage students, teachers, staff, friends, families, and neighbors to be a part of, so stay tuned for more details. We CAN do this but we need YOUR help to make this happen.

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
