For the past couple of months, IBA has been looking to launch IBA Cares, a way for IBA to give back to people and communities in need. We weren't sure where to start. Until now...
Recently we learned that a couple of our teammates at IBA have kids in elementary school that were learning about water scarcity. Through The Water Project, they found a primary school in Kenya, St. Kizito, that presently does not have access to clean water, one of the most basic of needs and an absolutely fundamental source of life. The children walk many miles every day for dirty water that sometimes makes them sick. It was heartbreaking.
The teacher at the elementary school tasked the kids to earn money by doing "extra chores.” The hope was to raise awareness and maybe a few hundred dollars to donate to The Water Project to support their plan for a safe, clean, sustainable water system. Instead, the kids went out and raised almost $2,000 with chores and lemonade stands. We were overwhelmed by their ingenuity and spirit and want to complete funding the project that they started.
IBA will match dollar for dollar up to $4,000 total. This will bring the remaining $8,000 this school needs to get their water project fully funded.
I hope you'll consider joining us in this mission. With your gifts and your help rallying support, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water for the children and teachers at St. Kizito Primary School.
