Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.
Fundraiser

I am doing this fundraiser so that I can give people an opportunity that may not have one. I am also doing this as my Confirmation project because I have been taught to be God's hands and feet in the world.

The way this will work is that I ask you to pledge a set amount of money for every (X) amount of miles that I run. You can also set a cap on the amount of money you would like to donate. You can also track the distance I run on Nike+. I still have to set up the link so that you can track my distances. Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the Lord for help

will find their strength renewed.
They will rise on wings like eagles;
they will run and not get weary;
they will walk and not grow weak.

5/6/14- Track practice preparing for state meet. 1 mile 5/7/14- First (official) run of the project, much later than I would have liked. 4 miles 5/8/14- Track practice preparing for state meet on Saturday. 2 miles 5/10/14- State Track meet! 2 miles, (1/2 mile warm-up lap, 1 mile event, 1/2 mile event) For the 1600 meter run (mile) I ran a 5:41 and got 6th place in Lutheran schools in Missouri. In the 800 meter run (1/2 mile) I ran a 2:34 and got 8th place in Lutheran schools in Missouri. I also did 100 meter hurdles but was not able to get to the finals but I did finish 4th in my heat. 5/12/14 Fundraiser Update #1 We met our first goal of $115. I have run a total of 7 miles so far. I am hoping to run a few times this week but the weather is iffy. I will be running in the Ferguson 5k this weekend on the 17th. I hope to reach the second goal but the end of the project. 5/17/14- Ferguson 5k! 3 miles with a time of 22:50 5/20/14- Hot day on the Katy Trail. 2.5 miles 5/22/14- Perfect day for a run on the Katy Trail. 4 miles. 5/24/14- Gym treadmill. 2.5 5/24/14 Fundraiser Update #2 Met our second goal of $460! I have run a total of 18 miles and I am planning to run everyday this week for a (hopeful) final total of 46 miles. Confirmation is a week from today and I am ready for it. 5/25/14- Hardest Run of the Project. 4 miles 5/30/14- Treadmills are not fun. 1 mile 5/31/14- 2 miles on the Katy Trail, shorter run because of a hot day 5/31/14 Fundraiser Update #3 This will be the last update of the project. Tomorrow I will be confirming my faith. I realized toward the end of the month that this was the worst month that I could have done this project but you still supported me and I was able to run a total of 25. I will keep the page up for a few more days so that anyone that forgot or anyone I forgot to contact will still be able to give to the project.

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
