Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.
Fundraiser

Dear Friends,

As you probably all know I just happen to love running. That is why I have the confidence that with your support I can go an extra mile (42km actually) and take (a lot of) meaningful steps towards the world that is a place where things matter. With you guys I never run alone!

Some stats for number-lovers :D

- 7: the number of days left until the Rotterdam
Marathon (2014/04/13),

- 8: the number of weeks left until the Mannheimer
Marathon (2014/05/31),

- 50: average number of kilometres run each week to
prepare for the race,

- 33: the number of training-hours spent over the
upcoming two months,

- >12: the average pace (in km/h) during a training,

- 150: number of steps per minute,

- 400: the distance I will run to until May 31,

- 10,000: the target amount of money to be fundraised,

- 300,000: number of steps until May 31,

And finally…

- 0.03: $-value of one step when I manage to reach my
fundraising target.

Support my project financially if you can. Donations
start with as little as $10. You can donate on your own or crowd-fund with
friends!

If not, you can still show your support! Remember…
SHARING IS CARING.

Please add your friends and people that you think
would be willing to donate to the event. It’s really simple :D

Share our vision with your friends
too!

~Jakub

- Mannheim Marathon (May 31, 2014)

"All
people dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their mind wake in the day to
find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous
people, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it
possible."

FAQs:

Why Water ?

Experiences during my summer exchange in Beijing
showed me that taking water for granted is a foolish thing. This happened in
Chinese capital and I can only imagine how the situation looks like in
provinces and even less developed places, such as Sub Saharan Africa…

Why water wells?

The idea is that water allows for a leap in the living
standard. Water well means time savings every day and change of the game –
entrepreneurship, education, higher sanitary standars.

Why WaterProject® ?

It is a non-profit organization. I chose it because it
is entirely focused on projects that deal with water wells’ drilling. Their nearly 10-year experience shows a great track in their endeavors. Successfully helping over 275,000 people to
improve their access to clean water in over 700 communities has made me believe
they can deliver real value.

Why $10,000 ?

The reason is actually fairly simple. Underwriting the
whole project costs $5,000. Since one isn’t plural, two projects and $10,000 it
is!

Why Africa ?

In my opinion better water resources will be one of
the catalysts for releasing potential of economic growth in Africa.

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
