My Goal: To help bring clean water to villages in developing countries.
Why?:
It is estimated that over 600 million people in the world lack access to viable water sources. Sub-Saharan Africa is the home to over 40% of all people that do not have access to this life essential resource. Oceania and Sub-Saharan Africa remain the top areas that are not currently in alignment with the rest of the world in improving water quality and accessibility (United Nations). As it currently stands one in nine people in the world lack access to safe drinking water. In relation to the global population, that is more than twice the entire population of the U.S...(water.org).
Lack of safe drinking water is a huge factor in lack of education, poverty, poor health, spread of disease and low mortality rates in developing countries such as Africa and India. Thinking of all of the privileges and amenities that have been afforded to me as a citizen of a dominate, developed country, I realize that having a readily accessible, abundance of clean water at my disposal (quite literally) was a key factor in the many, many opportunities that have been afforded to me. I cannot think of many experiences that I could have that would be more dehumanizing than taking away my accessibility to clean water. If I can do anything to help alleviate the pains of others in the world, I would like to at least try and help. While I know that I cannot eradicate this horrific epidemic, I can work with like-minded individuals to pitch in and try to give my fellow human beings this minimal requirement for life.

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
