Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.
Fundraiser
As students in the International Development course at Dalhousie University, we plan to raise awareness about water privatization in Rwanda. Many impoverished communities within Rwanda are unable to access clean, drinkable water, which as you can imagine, presents these people with countless challenges on a daily basis. The money that is raised through this project will go towards building wells to provide clean, sustainable water for families of Rwandan communities.

How we plan to take action is to only drink water as a beverage for the duration of 1 week. After this week is over, any money we would have spent on other beverage choices such as coffee, tea, soft drinks or alcohol,

will be donated to our Water Project. We are currently trying to get as many people involved in this Challenge as possible because as students, we know those early morning coffees add up! However, if you are unable to participate during our week of fundraising, that is totally okay too. We are accepting all donations from now until our campaign completion date: March 3rd 2014!
Our Water Challenge week will take place from Monday February 24th - Monday March 3rd 2014. But DON'T FRET, we will make an event a few days before it starts to remind you all

Once the Water Challenge week and campaign are over, The Water Project will assign our funds to a specific well building project. A community in need of a well will be selected, and we will all be notified which community is receiving all of your generous donations! For the following 6-8 months, we will also be receiving information from The Water Project on the positive, life changing impacts we have had on the community and be sure to post them in our Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/216808121841516/217620401760288/?notif_t=group_activity

All donations are extremely appreciated and will not go unnoticed. Please help us reach our goal of $460.00US and improve the lives of many Rwandan families!

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
