Kohler School hopes that you will consider joining us to fund a water project. Give up beverages other than tap water for two weeks, and save up the money you would have spent. Bring it to class and we will be donating those savings to help provide clean, safe and reliable water to a community in Africa. Keep this in mind: even if you don't want to take on the Water Challenge this year, you are welcome to sponsor a participant.

"About 19 million people do not have access to water, 1 in 3 people globally lack access to a toilet, and women spend 125 millions hours collecting water for their families daily." (Hour 6, Pod 1)

"Kenya is an area with major amounts of water pollution, and not a lot of economic flow for them to be able to afford major water filters that are very costly. The main problem appears to be that people can not get access to clean water easily, and if they find water, that water is usually not clean. A large number of people would be affected by this problem, even whole communities, because they don’t have the ability to get the clean water that they need to stay alive." (Hour 7, Pod 1)

In the Kohler School Clean Water Endeavor, we are working to create a solution to help people in Kajiado County, Kenya, and Varanasi, India, who cannot reliably access fresh, clean water. This year, we have explored the Hasso-Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford (d.school) Model of Design Thinking (Empathise, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test). Now, we will integrate the Design Thinking cycle with biochemistry and microbiology as we engineer reliable ways for people to access fresh, clean water. This unit will require us to analyze the social issues of health, hunger, poverty, and education through a scientific perspective as they engineer a viable solution that will meet the needs of real communities.

Today, too many children suffer needlessly - walking miles for dirty water that makes them sick. We can change that. Please, participate in The Water Challenge, and make a donation with the money that you don't spend on other drinks, and then help us spread the word by sporting our Kohler School Water Challenge Wristbands!

How this works

Dirty water impacts health, education, women, and income. Providing a reliable and safe water source allows communities to thrive.

The Water Project provides access to safe and reliable water across sub-Saharan Africa. Together, our support can end the water crisis and restore hope, one community at a time.

The coolest part? We'll all get to see our impact! Every gift is directly linked to a specific water project and community. We'll receive updates including photos and stories, maps and more!

Lives change when communities gain access to clean water. Let's experience it together. Make a donation to my fundraising campaign today!
