Help Fund a Water Project
Hi everyone! We, as grade 7 and 8 students, are launching a campaign aimed to raise money for families lacking clean drinking water in Africa!
You might ask, what motivated us? Well, after watching a Plan Canada commercial, we were very inspired to help the communities in Africa. We just knew we had to help. Althoughimproving, Africa is one of the poorest regions in the world, where life
expectancy is just 56 years. Only about 30% of the population has access to
safe water and just 6% have access to adequate sanitation. The impact of this
situation on health is dire. Water related diseases are common, and child mortality
is high. We began planning this project since September, and will run until June
2015. The primary objective is to enable the target community to gain access to
safe water and sanitations and to adopt hygienic behaviour. Research has shown
that integrating hygiene education into water and sanitation projects greatly
increases the impact of a project on the targeted community. In this campaign. we hope to raise the awareness of the issue among our school, and community- and raise funding by initiating a change drive! Want to help us make it rain with change? Why It Matters
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
