I was inspired recently by a 10 year old to help fund towards water projects in Africa. This kid is a son of my colleague's who was introduced to me as an author. Yes, you heard me right - he is an author at the age of 10. I asked him what his book was about and he told him that he had written about the needs of people in Africa - they needed clean water. He wrote the book to raise funds towards building. How simple was it to do this. I've heard of the need for clean water time and time again, but it took a boy at the age of 10 to show me that humanity exists and that it was a matter of choice. Here I was wasting water through excessive showering times. Not to also mention that in the name of social life maintenance, consumption of alcohol, regardless of however little I have consumed, finds me guilty.
As I read more about the need for clean water, I learn that many children suffer just from walking several miles to obtain clean water. They get sick, they lose any little energy they gained from eating the little food they have in the process of getting clean water and when they do get clean water, only limited amounts are obtained.
I want to change this and you can too. As first steps, I am intending to make a donation and I hope you'll consider you'll consider joining me to fund a water project. My understanding is that with $300 USD, a well can be built. At other times, the funds are used to repair wells in places like schools or contributed towards bigger projects such as building catchment areas. I'm hoping we can help with building three wells. With your help, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water to a community in Africa. Donate no matter how much and/or help spread the word - I'll be grateful.
This is my first step towards a greater cause. Thanks for backing me up in my purpose.
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
