ALS has raised $50 million dollars with the "Ice Bucket Challenge". Pouring clean cold clear drinking water over our heads in order not to give money to a charity seemed a little ridiculous to me with so many kids suffering without the basic necessity of water. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled with the funds raised to find a cure for ALS however I think for significantly less money we could bring fresh water to many families which directly would save their lives. Essentially the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge raised money to find a cure for a terrible terminal ailment by dumping the cure for another terrible terminal ailment over their heads. Don't drink anything for 12 hours and then have a glass of water. Remember how refreshing and more important, how relieving the experience. Donate to "The Water Project" and give a kid a glass of water.
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
