Today, too many children suffer needlessly -- walking miles for dirty water that makes them sick. Worldwide, 780 million people do not have access to a clean water source, therefore making it almost impossible to have proper sanitation. Most of the time in places in Africa, the young girls in the family are the ones responsible for getting water for the family, making it difficult to get an education. This is the case for a girl named Nya from the book, which is based off a true story, A Long Walk to Water, by Linda Sue Park.
What can you do to help? You can help by donating money for the number of steps we take. I hope you'll consider joining us to fund our water project. With your gifts and your support, we can provide clean, safe and reliable water to a community in Africa. We walk to represent the many miles people in Africa without water readily available have to walk.
Every year 3,575,000 people die from drinking unclean water, out of that number 2.2 million are kids. Eight hundred forty four million people lack access to safe drinking water this is more than the combined population of the United States, France, Italy, Brazil, Japan, and Germany.
