Help Fund a Water Project

Together, we can unlock potential in a developing community by providing clean, safe water.

Water, wine and weddings go together.

In the Gospel of John, Jesus attends a wedding that runs out of wine. He instructs the servants to take the enormous water jugs used for purification and fill them up with water. Miraculously, the water has turned INTO wine! The people have something to drink, so they keep dancing; the party continues.

Freddy and Ellen are getting married July 2017. There will be wine at the wedding (don't worry!!!), but there will also be water. We want the celebration to continue on long after our big day for a community that lacks adequate access to clean water.

We want to give our friends and family an opportunity to feel part of our wedding, even if they cannot physically be in Tanzania with us.

Clean water is essential to life, and lack of access to it creates a ripple effect beyond physical health, affecting income and education. One in every five deaths of children under five years of age is due to water-related causes.

This is no small matter: clean water saves lives.

Freddy: grew up in Tanzania, is well-aware of the need for clean water and adequate sanitation in rural areas. He supports a rural school through the Home Foundation, and built a water tank for the students and teachers.

Ellen: began to learn about the need for access to clean water in 2014, when she contracted typhoid in Uganda. For her upcoming birthday that year she had a fundraiser for clean water.

The Water Project works in sub-Sahara Africa, including neighboring Uganda and Kenya, and focuses on local partnerships for sustainability. We can track the progress of the project so we can see the community where we helped provide water.

We invite our friends and family to give generously to our fundraiser. If you're unable to attend our wedding ceremony, or in place of gifts, we ask that you would donate to help a community have access to clean water.

That way, our party keeps going, because people have something to drink.

Celebrate with us!

And may the wine and water flow!

This campaign will close August 1, 2017

Why It Matters

Access to clean, safe water unlocks potential

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?

Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!

Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.

About The Water Project

The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.

Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.

Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
