11º3 Water Project

Hello! We are a group of Portuguese young students, from Braga, Sá de Miranda high school and we make part of class 03 of the 11th grade.

We are young people aware of the importance of building a sustainable future, since our actions and decisions affect our health, well-being and the environment. Towards this emergency, we decided to participate in the active citizenship project, The Water Project.

As common knowledge, there are countless communities in Africa that need our help, individuals with a miserable quality of life and without access to drinking water. That is the reason why our class found it interesting and captivating, the idea of ​​joining together, with the purpose of raising as much money as possible in order to contribute to the construction of one or more wells (the number of wells varies depending on the amount of money raised), so that everyone can have access to clean and drinkable water.

 To make this construction achievable, professionals developed a system, in which rainwater is collected in strategic areas of a roof, which then enters a personalized gutter system (which filters the debris) and leads to a storage tank allowing access to safe and reliable water.

 There are lots of children who suffer unnecessarily, they walk miles in order to get drinkable water, but the most they can get is contaminated water, which can lead to the emergence of diseases. We can change that!

 With this project, everyone’s help is needed, namely our friends and family. Therefore, we hope that everyone will cooperate, within their means, sending us such important donations for the realization of this project.
