When I was younger I used to feel constantly inspired to reach out and give into other peoples lives. I would leave toys under the tree at Christmas time for santa to deliver to the poor children. I saved up money and gave to the angel tree in my local mall, during chapel and church services when an organization would speak and ask for finances I would usually pour out more than my budget would've really allowed, and in other ways I simply remember always having a heart of giving. Wanting to help and comfort every homeless person I would see.
Now I am older. I have a real job. I deal with the traveling public everyday. I live in one of the largest cities in the US with a majorly impoverished population. At some point my heart grew harder, slowly but surely. It's a slow fade, but I must recognize it. I want to recognize it. I want to call it out. It's not right to feel the way I have.
With this being said I have decided to pick a campaign to support, an organization I feel I can stand behind and trust. Something simple, yet eye opening and highly necessary.
WATER. It's a pretty basic gift, no? I take it for granted every day as I imagine do you.
This website will give you a plethora of statistics and figures on why and how many people need water.. so if that touches you, then cool. Please give because statistically speaking people drinking dirty water causes 1 in 5 Africans to contract a disease and the world ain't that big and diseases travel pretty easily and before you know it bird flu. Boom. But, I also hope you'll give because I think as a whole we tend to grow cold. We see these issues plastered so much. So often. Everywhere. Of the abandoned puppy or the sick child etc., that we come to a point of not giving anymore. We say the needs are too many and I'm too few. But that's not really the point is it? I'm not asking you to help me rid the world of dirty water and supply every human with a clean water supply. I'm simply asking that you help me make some difference. Somehow. Somewhere. It does matter. The money does make a change. And look at that, we're not even leaving our blessed, comfortable lives. So please, help me reach my goal. It means something to more people than we know.
Please make a donation and then help me spread the word.
With sincere gratitude,
Stefan

Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
