If that isn't enough a reason to motivate you to make a donation, I'm not sure what is.
While you sit there and sip on your cup of clean water, a hundred and fifteen people, humans, like you and me, are dying from contaminated water. If you don't have a cup of water near you, and if you do, good, go get one. Fill it with some water. It's probably mostly clean, no?
Now imagine that cup of water, only contaminated. Imagine it brown in color. The water has been contaminated with sewage, animal manure, flies, eggs. Disgusting thought, isn't it? I sure think so. It's a thought no one wishes to think of, yet its what people in places like Uganda and Rwanda drink.
Every one in 4 children that die before the age of 5 worldwide, die simply because they couldn't have access to clean water. Do you find that ridiculous? I do.
How far do you walk to collect water? Clean water I might add. Miles? I'm guessing not.
But some children have to.
The Iraq War? Please.
Focus on the more important issues at hand. Water. More people die from it.
Hard to believe? Believe it.
I created this page with the main aim of creating awareness, but feel free to donate to the wonderful cause. However, note that you have no obligation to do so.
If you don't donate, at least think about what I've said.
Did you know nearly 1 billion people don't have safe water to drink?
Together, we can change that. Let's fund a new source of drinking water for those who suffer needlessly without it!
Our gifts will be used to construct or rehabilitate a water project, like a well or sand dam, in Africa. We'll see pictures, GPS coordinates, and updates as they come in from the actual water project we fund so we can celebrate the results along with the community we help.
The Water Project, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization unlocking human potential by providing clean, safe water to communities around the world who suffer needlessly without.
Working with local partners in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, and Uganda, we build long lasting water projects that are organized, owned and managed by the communities receiving them.
Together, with our partners we identify, implement, report on and follow up on every project. Then we share the whole story with you to inspire confidence in the work being done and the impact it has.
