A Year Later: "The water is always available..."

July, 2023

A year ago, your generous donation helped Kathoya Community in Sierra Leone access clean water – creating a life-changing moment for Ibrahim. Thank you!

A Year Later:

Ibrahim, a 39-year-old farmer, recalled what life was like in Kathoma before his community's well was rehabilitated last year.

"The constraints were too much. We used to fetch water from the swamps; sometimes, the water was dirty. We were also exposed to a lot of water sickness diseases such as diarrhea, Typhoid, etc. The distance again was another problem. We used to cover about 400 meters (about .25 miles) away from our homes for us to access the swamp water," said Ibrahim.

But life is much less burdensome and risky for Ibrahim and the other community members in Kathoya now.

"This water point has brought so much relief to our community. At least we are somehow free from those diseases mentioned. The water is now clean and safe for drinking and cooking. Even the distance has now reduced," continued Ibrahim.

Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Ibrahim, allowing him peace of mind that the water he is drinking now is safe to consume.

"Since the construction of this water point, the water is always available, and we never experience any breakdown. The water point is always well-kept, clean, and [there is] no more waste of time and energy like before. So with this, we would like to thank you for your kindness and timely intervention," concluded Ibrahim.

Thank you for helping Ibrahim access clean water and reserve his energy for other essential things that will hopefully improve his life in the future.

Right now, there are others just like him in neighboring communities that desperately need safe water access. Your support will immediately go to work to provide a clean water project - and we can't wait to introduce you to the next person you'll help.
