A Year Later: Collecting water without fear!

Balu K., 13, recalled what life was like in Tardi Community before her community’s new well was installed last year.

"Before, this time, I was fetching water from the swamp. The swamp source is far away from our home, and I was in fear to fetch water from the swamp because there are wild animals like snakes and bush dogs [that] might harm us. We always went in a number like 5 to 6 people to fetch. We would be singing and causing noise so that these animals I mentioned would move away from the road leading to the swamp source. Sometimes, we could only fetch two rubber containers for the rest of the day," said Balu.

But life is much less worrisome for Balu and the other community members in Tardi now.

"This water point has helped me not to fetch water from the swamp. I'm not in worry anymore if [there are] harmful animals [when I go] to fetch water because the water point is located at the center of the village," Balu said.

Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Balu, allowing her the freedom to feel safe while collecting water.

"This water point has helped me to achieve fetching enough water on time because the water point is not far away from our home. Thanks to you for providing us [with] clean drinking water," concluded Balu.
