A Year Later: "I am happy"

January, 2023

A year ago, your generous donation helped Raka Community in Sierra Leone access clean water – creating a life-changing moment for Isatu. Thank you!

A Year Later:

Before the well in Raka Community was rehabilitated last year, people spent a significant amount of time finding and collecting water, leaving them exhausted.

"The old water source was an open well. Before, we used to fetch water with [a] rope and a rubber container. During the dry season, the well went dry [and] we [had to] go the swamp to fetch water. It was a difficult task to fetch water from the swamp," said 17-year-old Isatu M.

But once we rehabilitated their well, sufficient water became easily accessible for everyone.

"I am happy because [the water point] is well protected, easy [to] get water [from], [and] also pure to drink," said Isatu.

"The water point has helped me to fetch water on time and to go to school on time. It has helped [me] to launder uniforms and clothes two times a week. It is chlorinated, which makes it pure to drink, and it has reduced the chances to get water sickness," concluded Isatu.
