A Year Later: ". . . I can say my prayers have been answered."

Emma, 16, recalled what life was like in Santiguiya Forie before her community's well was rehabilitated last year.

"I'm thanking God and you for their great help in providing safe drinking water for us in this village. Before, we, the pupils of this village, were suffering because there was no safe drinking water. The results of that [was] so many children and women were dying because of the waterborne diseases. Moreover, almost every day, we used to go to school very late," shared Emma.

But life is much more hopeful for Emma and the other community members in Santiguiya Forie now.

"Now, we are so excited about this opportunity. You have provided for [the] people of this village in having safe drinking water, which has impacted our lives because there are no waterborne diseases again like cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid," said Emma.

Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Emma, allowing her to no longer fear becoming ill with water-related sicknesses and make plans for the future.

"Before this time, my main plans or goals were that someday, there would be no sicknesses in this village and that we, the pupils of this village, would go to school on time. Now [with] the help of you, I can say my prayers have been answered," concluded Emma.
