A Year Later: More Time to Study!

Sidikie, 11, recalled what life was like at the Pewulay Kulafai Rashideen Islamic Primary School before his school's well was rehabilitated last year.

"Each time it [was] my turn to fetch water, I used to suffer to fetch water for my class. The distance from my school to the place we fetch water from was far. Most of the time, a lot of people would be there, so it was not easy for me to fetch water on time," said Sidikie.

Collecting water is now much faster and simpler for him and the other students at the school.

“Now I am able to fetch water to fill the drinking bucket in my class. I am no longer leaving classes to fetch water in the community because the well in the school can serve us,” said Sidikie.

Having ready access to water from the well has made a difference for Sidikie, allowing him the time and energy to focus on learning and working towards a brighter future.

"This water well has helped me pay more attention in class since I no longer go out during school hours to fetch water. This has made me to have good grades in my exams. Also, the sweeping of our class and cleaning of the blackboard can be done easily because we now have water," concluded Sidikie.
